1.Who we are
The Nepalese Association of Michigan ("NEAM", "we", "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Wixom, Michigan, serving Michigan’s Nepali community since 1995.
This policy explains what personal information we collect through neamusa.org and our member services, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website, the emails we send you, and the digital member ID and event tickets we issue.
2.Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the association and its events:
- Account details — your name, email address, and profile photo, created when you sign in. Accounts and sign-in are handled by Clerk; we never see or store your password.
- Membership and payment details — the plan you chose, its status, and its renewal date. Card payments are processed by Stripe: we receive a confirmation and the amount, never your full card number.
- Event participation — the events you register for, how many seats you hold, and the ticket issued to you, including the QR code used for check-in at the door.
- Digital member ID — the membership record behind your ID, and, if you add it, the wallet pass on your phone.
- Submissions you send us — contact form messages, classifieds listings (including the contact name, phone, and email you ask us to publish), and any photos an admin uploads on the association’s behalf.
- Technical information — standard server and error logs, including IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, used to keep the site secure and working.
3.How we use your information
We use personal information to provide and improve the association’s services — specifically to:
- create and maintain your account, membership, and digital member ID;
- process dues, donations, and event ticket purchases, and issue receipts;
- confirm your event registrations and send you the ticket PDF and QR code;
- answer the messages you send us and review classifieds before they go live;
- send announcements about events and community news;
- keep the site secure, prevent misuse, and meet our record-keeping obligations as a nonprofit.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
6.How long we keep it
We keep membership, donation, and event records for as long as your membership is active and afterwards for as long as our nonprofit accounting and tax obligations require. Contact form messages and classifieds listings are kept only as long as they are useful to the community, and expired listings are removed.
7.Your choices
You can view and update most of your details from your profile page at any time. You may also ask us to:
- send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or out of date;
- delete your account and the personal information tied to it, where we are not required to keep it;
- remove a classifieds listing you submitted;
- stop sending you announcement emails — you will still receive transactional messages such as ticket and payment confirmations.
Email [email protected] and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.
8.Children’s privacy
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13. Parents and guardians register children for youth and family events through their own account. If you believe a child has given us personal information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
9.Security
Traffic to this site is encrypted in transit, payment details are handled entirely by Stripe, and administrative features are restricted to authorised board members and volunteers. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information entrusted to us and to limit who inside the association can see it.
10.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services change. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised, and any material change will be announced on the site.
11.Contact us
